Spring is certainly the most fun and exciting time at the Secret Garden Centre, as well as in your garden at home. An abundance of plants is in stock now, with many more arriving soon. The weather is mild, but nighttime temperatures are still cold, so please ensure early tender plants are kept protected until the weather warms a little more.
Vegetable Seedlings (in stock 27/3/26)
A vast selection of veg seedlings are due to arrive. Tomatoes, lettuces, Brocolli, cabbage and more. Although we will have them out side during the warm days, we will have them under protection in the night and we advise you do the same either in a green house, conservatory or evenin the porch. They will need sometime to harden off. As the threat of frost passes, more tender veg such as Aubergines and Cucumber will become available.
Summer Bedding Plants
The first of the summer bedding plants have arrived, and there is more to come! Surfinias, Geraniums (pelargoniums), Bacopa and a few other summer bedding plants.
Lobelia, trailing Geraniums, and Begonias will start to arrive at the end of the week and will be available for the next couple of months. Please ensure you protect these tender plants on cold nights.
Pond Plants
Pond plants have started to arrive. We have a good selection of marginal plants and water lilies available now. Oxygenators, pond snails, and other aquatic curiosities will start to become available over the next few weeks.
Climbing plants
Spring-flowering Clematis have arrived and are budding up beautifully. Evergreen clematis Armandii are also in flower and smell delightful. We also have a great selection of Clematis montana, Summer-flowering clematis, Honeysuckles, Passion flower, Jasmines, and Trachelospermum (Evergreen Jasmine).
Hydrangea petiolaris will arrive in time for Easter.
Roses
The roses have started to shoot and will be full of blooms in no time at all. We have a large selection of David Austin roses available, as well as patio roses from Whartons. Roses are easy to grow and suit most gardens. They also make a great gift for Birthdays and anniversaries.
Shrubs
The shrub section of the garden centre has been filling up fast. Camellias, Forsythia, Rhododendrons, Magnolia, Azaleas, and Ceanothus are either in flower or bud now. Now is also a great time to get hedging plants in the ground.
Perennials
As ever, our perennial selection is vast. Look out for Brunnera, Erysimums, Scabious, and Peonies, which are all looking good. The Ferns, Rockery plants, and Ground cover plants are all looking fab too.
